Bailout is a JOKE!

The next media disaster is the coverage of the bailout. This is the greatest fleecing of the poor and middle class in US history. Where is the outrage?

Election day has come and gone. Where was the media regardng the issues surrounding the banning of civil rights to gays/lesbians?

Exxon is an excellent example of Corporate Responsablity - Or lack of.

Please take the time to read the article on The Supreme Court's decision to help Exxon during these tough times of record oil profits. If this judgment does not exemplify how damage our court system is, than I am not sure people are getting the point.
One last point about the article. When we fail to understand the problems of a geographic region in global terms, we risk isolating ourselves. We would expect the same respect for our state that Alaska's citizens expect for theirs. Think about it.

Hillary Clinton is Playing the Race Card

I am deeply troubled by the upswing for Hillary Clinton. She is taking advantage of right wing attacks against Obama and Democrats and Independents are not paying attention to how she is winning. Last week, references to Farrakan and Character were thrown into the debate. Similar to Fox News, she is creating an illusion that Obama cannot be trusted. Next, she is erratic. She actually said she was going to obliterate Iran with Nuclear Weapons if they attacked Israel. This kind of war rehetoric is closer to McCain than the Democratic party principles.

The recent barrage by Fox and other News Media outlets against Senator Obama disturbs me on many fronts. Many Americans will vote based on perceptions of our media outlets which is very dangerous to our Republic.

The Formula - We Say it......

A very dangerous formula is working in today's media. Allow a conservative news outlet like Fox to "accidentally report something incorrect" and then allow the other media networks to pick it up and mainstream the story. On a day when Bill O'Reilly called news blogs on the Internet "Hate Speech", I found an article on the Huffington Post that shows how much O'Reilly is wrong on the benefits of free speech on the net. There was a sixty minutes broadcast that was blacked out in the south during last Sunday's episode. Click on the link for the details. I think you will be surprised.

Lessons from Ron Paul

Ron Paul could have been Mitt Romney this year. He raised more money than the other Republican candidates. He attracts legions of fans on campuses across the United States. He is all the rage on Youtube. Yet, he is a lesson in the power of mainstream media.
Ron Paul has been blacklisted because of his strict interpretation of the Constitution. The media has deemed his ideas to be dangerou. Fox news began the blacklisting and was quickly followed by the other major networks. He has been withheld from debates, left out of news coverage, and ignored by the media. Without the media, you can not win an election. Check out the graphic that failed to even show him on the election results from Iowa. CNN also has done this in the past. Very disturbing. Even Jay Leno from the Tonight show felt sorry for Paul and had him on his show one night because he was black listed.

Are we about Freedom around the World?

One of the perceptions I challenge in my book is the intentions of our government around the world. For this reason, I am posting links to news stories that rarely get the attention that they are due. After reading the articles, ask yourself, are we promoting the interests of multinational companies or freedom?

How to Control a Presidential Election

Fox news is excluding Ron Paul from the debates and ABC news is excluding Dennis Kucinich. This is how the media works for the empire. Interestingly enough, the four candidates allowed to debate on ABC received contributions from Disney, ABC's parent affiliate. Fox news on the other hand serves the mandates given to them by a higher authority, which is the reason why Ron Paul is not debating.
While both cases represent fraudulent misuse of the media, I find the case for Ron Paul to be most interesting. Ron Paul polled strongly in Iowa earning delegates. In the past, the media has used the excuse that they excluded a candidate because they did not do well. Ron Paul's exclusion is unprecedented. I will include links on the left to read the articles that support this media watch assertion.

Time Warner - Supporting the War on Terror

This weeks issue of Time magazine has an interesting cover that will go unnoticed by many. The cover of Time has a caricature of the leader of Iran. If you can, run out and check out a copy of the cover. Ask yourself, "How would I feel if another country mocked our leadership?" In an area that erupts over Western countries mocking their religion, Time must have known that the people of Iran and the Middle East would find the magazine cover to be disrespectful.

Fox Morning Show

I was watching Fox Morning News and noticed how sophisticated their editorializing is regarding Republican and Democratic candidates that are running for President. The routine goes like this.... In a seemingly harmless casual coffee shop type setting, the correspondents pretend to have a casual conversation about the candidates. For example, they might say, "Hey Barack Obama came out and discussed his use of drugs and alcohol in school." then one correspondent will say, "I kind of admire him for that." Then another correspondent says, "Hey I feel he did not say enough, lets roll the tape." Now all three will say, "Hey your right, Barack was irresponsible because he did not say enough against drug usage." They do this every time. They have a set up, then a convenient clip ready to show the candidate, and finally some editorializing. Very clever way of manipulating their viewers. Check it out for your self.

Welcome to my latest blog: Media Watch. A large part of my book, The Quest for Human Decency was dedicated to the discussion of the impact of media on decency. I was quite critical of media bias found in news organizations such as Fox News. Our news and information is used to shape ideas and thoughts regarding a wide range of social issues.
For this reason, I created a blog to analyze the media for content and to ask readers for their help regarding observations of media bias that manipulates people's perceptions of issues including: Social Policy, Elections, and the Economy. All published accounts will be reviewed for relevance toward future editions of my books.
